Depends on your dog. You would have to retrain your dog every year. I am not sure he would not enjoy it. Would you like to be called differently every year?

If you’re dog was smart enough then yes!

We don’t know much about how dogs identify themselves. So if you called your dog “Rover” we aren’t sure if the dog indentifies himself as “Rover” or he just understands that when you make the noise “Rover” it means you want his attention.

So you can just make up a random noise every year, not a word, and you’re dog will come to associate that noise with you wanting his attention.

I think I would start getting confused if I changed the names of my pet every year..
