My computer science teacher at school inspired me to study computer science.
In the last two years of high-school I had to take computer science because I wanted to take some advanced physics instead of Latin. I was initially not keen at all. The year before computing had been a nightmare, because the teacher that year was a maths teacher forced to teach computing and was not confident in teaching it. Luckily the teacher in the final two years was a computer scientist (apart from a biologist). He taught me that writing software programs can be very interesting and challenging.

I chose to do a project in my third and final year at university and I really enjoyed doing it. It was the first piece of research I did on my own and it looked into using virtual worlds for experiments. My supervisors suggested I should stay in science as I did a good job and that is what first inspired me.
