• Question: What exactly happens when a computer "freezes"?

      There could be a few reasons.

      The most common are it get suck in a loop. So it keep repeating the same bit of ‘code’ over and over again, like a person who just keeps repeating themselves. Or it’s trying to access something stored in memory that isn’t there anymore.

      It may also freeze because the computer is trying to do too many things at once and it runs out of RAM. That’s just like us breaking down when trying to do lots of things at the same time.
